aaahh-news // 04/09

Hey there!

Oh, what a glorious sunny month has passed here in Germany. Hopefully you could spend some hours in the sun too. But now you should spend some time with the following news about your favourite netlabel.

Keyboard Rebel:
If you want to know what happens when you trap some Guys from Keyboard Rebel in a room in Ipswich for one day, you should download „The Ears of William Prynne“. It is a six-track mini-album written (from scratch), rehearsed, recorded and mixed all in a single 24-hour session from five members of Keyboard Rebel. They present this very inventive piece of music under their pseudonym „slope“.

Mabye you do not only love the music from Keyboard Rebel, but you like spiders too. Then you should watch this video from Canada.

NE:O
Best news first. ne:o will be on tour together with Keyboard Rebel in November 2009. But you can meet them earlier on stage. On the 30th of July they will have a show in Dresden within the 18th Tanzwoche Dresden (a festival of modern dance). You can find more showdates on ne:o´s homepage.
Also you should have a look at the beautiful review written by Steve Gilmore from
RebelRiffs. Man, this guy really knows music.

If you already downloaded illoj in mp3, but you like lossless files more, you can download them now for free on ne:o´s bandcamp site. Bandcamp changed his policy a bit. Anyway, you can still name-your-price for the music.

The Wind Whistles
Tom and Lizas new Album “Animals are people too” will be released at aaahh-records this summer. But there will be a „Secret Album“ too. (not any longer that „secret“) It acts, so to say, as a „missing link“ between Window Sills and Animals. The Plan is to give this Album as a ‘Thank You’ to those who buy “Animals…” or donate. There are some more news, but it would be a shame keeping you back from the charming notes Tom and Liza already wrote for you.

Entertainment for the Braindead
First of all it shall be told that Julia is going to have hours of fun. Why? Have a look for yourself!

If you couldn´t meet Julia in Poland or somewhere else on her shows, you should now visit the new EFTB-shop. You can get a lot of nice physical things for perhaps a cup of tea there… And with a little pride in the voice, we could tell you that Julia will be playing on the Y2k9 International Loopfest in Santa Cruz, California! Maybe you are around from 14th till 19th October 2009.

Inside aaahh
It happened so much in the last year, that it sounds a little strange for us to say that we celebrate our 1st Birthday on May 15th. If you want to compliment us on that happy day, you should visit us on the (PopUp in Leipzig. We´re looking forward to see you, having nice chats and present you nice new aaahh-cardsleeve-sampler and a few other give-aways. But we are sorry to say, that we will have no ballpens, although it´s an exihibition…
If you can’t meet us in Leipzig then come to the aaahh-netaudio-night at the 27th of June at the lovely Breipott in Berlin. We will offer you a Entertainment for The Braindead show, afterwards there will be us behind the turntables plus some nice open source visuals. It’s gonna be great fun!

Keep it free and charming!
Sincerely,
aaahh-records

New 24-hour mini-album from Keyboard Rebel

Fresh from their latest challenge, five of the members of Keyboard Rebel (recording under the pseudonym ‘Slope’) present ‘The Ears of William Prynne’, a six-track mini-album written (from scratch), rehearsed, recorded and mixed all in a single 24-hour session. With no songs or lyrics brought along to the studio, all of the band members were on rapid-fire songwriting duty, writing and singing a different song each to give the album a series of new twists on the Rebel sound.

The sleeve artwork is provided by the band’s regular artist, the excellent Bea Turner, with the whole package free to download here:
