Improving our donation based model

As you might know, there is a lot of room for improvements concerning our donation based model. Before we put out our brand new release, we think about some donation experiments. We got inspired by the crowd funding concept that has become so popular through sites like Kickstarter or Indiegogo and we wonder if it is possible to implement some of the ideas into aaahh records. Especially the reward structure of crowd funding seems quite promising for a netlabel. Here are some ideas that we think would be quite easy to adapt.

Become a Firstloader
A Firstloader would be someone who donates 1 Euro or more to one of our releases. We could add the donors email adress to a special mailing list and let him/her be the first to know about a new release. Donors/Supporters will be able to download new releases first, let’s say a week before everyone else is able to.

Become a Hiddentracker
People who donate more than xx* Euros will receive a “hidden” or “extra track” via email.

Become a Oldfashioner
In case there is a physical version of an album aswell: People who donate more than xx* Euros will get a free copy on CD/Vinyl via mail (the old, physical mail that delivers stuff to your home). Those albums would be limited. (Includes the hidden track)

Become a digital Concertist
People who donate more than xx* Euros will be invited to an exclusive Google-Hangout or Videolivestream session (digital live concert). The concert would take place on a fixed date that would be made public with the release of an album. There would only be one unique show. (Includes hidden track and physical album)

*we would crowdsource the amount by asking what would be a fair amount

I’m guess Hiddentracker and Oldfashioner are limited to one purchased album and hope Oldfashioner will include Hiddentracker.

    my thought:
    Hiddentracker: 10€
Oldfashioner: 20-25€ (shipping must be calculated somehow)

I don’t think digital Concertist is something which should be only for a selected hand of listeners. In my case I would like to see the artist in real not on the screen. It’s the feeling you have while at the concert place. plus you can ask the artist something, talking with them.

those cookies look delicious. they are vegan? ^^

    • Well, i think a virtual concert can be quite interesting, since i experienced one via Google Hangouts. It is a mix of concert and video conference, it is highly interactive and intimate. Of course it is not comparable to a real gig and it will never be a substitute for it. I think it’s worth a try. (Christian)

Approved! (As long as non of the CC advantages are canceled out with that)

I already have made good experiences with Kim Boekbinders “Impossible Girl”, so I am already convinced that this is a great way of supporting new music :)

    Hi,

It seems you already did the Hiddentracker and Oldfashioner with Nicolas Falcon album, and I was very happy to receive it in my mailbox

I think crowdfunding is a good way too. I really enjoyed the My bubba & Mi’s Our very own car fundraiser. It would have been great to use this system for the Denmaaahhrk project… ;-)

I don’t know what to think about virtual concerts. I just know it’s really hard to see CC artists in a real gig when you live in France (i should live in Germany, I could see EFTB, and it’s not so far from Switzerland (Bryyn) or Netherlands (The Black Atlantic)). If I could only win at the notional lottery to organize a CC concert with my favourit artists ! (maybe I should buy some tickets…)
