Denmaaahhrk Compilation out now!

Twitter and Facebook already know it. So does Google+. Now you will know it too! Our (almost) brand new Denmaaahhrk Compilation is out now! It’s a collection of 15 songs that all came to existence during a musical workshop week in Denmark that we organised in September 2011. We booked a house in a little village in northern Denmark and invited our artists (Keyboard Rebels, Bryyn, n:eo, Entertainment For The Braindead, Nicolas Falcon) to meet up and record some music. The result is an album that we offer you not only as a free download, but also on a limited vinyl look CD edition that comes in a handmade digipack with two photographs and a special limited mini DVD! It is limited to 100 pieces, so you better be quick. First come, first served. We hope you like DENMAAAHHRK as much as we do!

“Denmaaahhrk” coming soon!

Well, great things take time. We know we are going to be late with our next release. Actually, we are late already, we got stuck with this and that… but there is some news on our upcoming “Denmaaahhrk” Compilation (listen to some snippets here). The artwork is done, the CDs are on it’s way to us, the two videos that will be on a strictly limited mini DVD are edited and in the coming days we do some test printing for our hand crafted digipacks. We hope to be able to serve you our warm and lovely compilation during the christmas holidays. Please stay tuned and let us know if you are interested in having not only a music file but also one of our 100 limited digipack editions on CD. About half of them seem to be gone already.

Check out more fotos on Google+ and Facebook.
The digipack is made of 640g/m strong cardboard. It’s a high resolution 300p/inch colour print. The artwork is a collage of snippets that came to existence during the week in denmark. Notes, drawings, newspaper snippets, etc. The CD comes in a vinyl look and fits into a transparent digitray. There are two unique photographs inside each digipack that will not be published online. This way you will get some nice analog artefacts that you can put on you wall. The digipacks will be limited to 100 pieces.

Uniform Motion launch their own crowd funding site “One City Per Second”

Foto: Screenshot onecitypersecond.com
In one of our latest blog posts we mentioned the crowd funding model as an idea to improve the work of our little label project. Just a few days later Uniform Motion started a website that turned our vage thinking into reality. With the help of the brand new Ignition Deck plugin which is a self hosted crowd funding site with the functionality of sites like Kickstarter, Uniform Motion put up some campaigns to get their fans involved in their international bookings. Fans can for example help to fund and set up a concert in Gothenburg, Berlin and New York or help to get some nice T-Shirts printed by paying some money in advance as an investment/funding.
The site they set up is called One City Per Second. It’s a concert funding platform where you can find a funding campaign for a specific city based on the costs of getting there and any other fees related to booking a venue, hiring equipment, etc.
We fix a date and deadline for funding the concert. People can fund the concert in at different levels (just by paying for a ticket, or by combining merchadise) and if we reach the target, we jump in the car, plane, train and play the gig and bring all the merch with us.

Drinkify AAAHH RECORDS

Foto: Screenshot Drinkify.org
Feel like having a drink while listening to AAAHH RECORDS music? Well, there is a new web service that might help you out on this one. Drinkify suggests a drink that suits the music you are listening to. The web app was created in “twenty-four boozy hours by” @leyink, @han, and @flaneur during the Music Hack Day Boston 2011.
Here are some drinks that go well with AAAHH RECORDS
Entertainment For The Braindead: 6 oz. Coke, 6 oz. Sipsmith Gin
Uniform Motion: 12 oz. Glenmorangie Scotch
These Animals: 1 bottle Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
ne:o: 1 oz. Cachaça, 1 oz. 7-up
Improving our donation based model

As you might know, there is a lot of room for improvements concerning our donation based model. Before we put out our brand new release, we think about some donation experiments. We got inspired by the crowd funding concept that has become so popular through sites like Kickstarter or Indiegogo and we wonder if it is possible to implement some of the ideas into aaahh records. Especially the reward structure of crowd funding seems quite promising for a netlabel. Here are some ideas that we think would be quite easy to adapt. (more…)

Uniform Motion: Public rehearsal via Google Hangouts
[We used a mobile phone to film this from a tiny laptop screen... next time the quality will be better]
Uniform Motion invited their fans to a public rehearsal via Google Hangouts. Think of it as a group video chat performance with live music and live drawings. New technologies like G+ Hangouts enable a new way of performing that both sides, the artists and the audience alike, have to get used to. But you can already tell that it’s a very interesting, intimate way for fans to get in touch with their favorite band. And for the artists it seems to be fascinating aswell, because they get a new, realtime feedback experience from their audience that can not be enabled during a concert on a stage. Interesting new stuff! Uniform Motion will probably do this on a regular basis now. We think this is a great idea! If you want to join one of their upcoming Hangouts, add Andy to your G+ circles. Update: Uniform Motion wrote their own text about their Hangout experience.

We are getting close to our first official physical (hybrid) release

We are so excited! Step by step we are getting closer to our very first official physical (hybrid… there will still be a free download, of course!) release, that we will produce completely DIY-style. The recording we did in our little danish summer residence in September. The mastering has been done by Denis Osborne (a true Keyboard Rebel) and Milan Greulich (one of the ne:o masterminds). The artwork will be designed by the one and only Julia Kotowski aka Entertainment For The Braindead, who is not only known for her brilliant music but also for her unique design skills. The result of all this will be a fully handmade Digipack CD package. We will create first prototypes next week and keep you posted. As another step towards the release, we got some recycled mailing bags today, that will be a soft and save home for the CDs during their journey to your very own physical letterbox. Feel free to get in touch with us, if you are interested in having one of the 100 limited copies of the CD.
(We will contact you via email as soon as the CDs are finished) [contact-form 404 "Not Found"]
Uniform Motion: “Pay What You Want” model for Vinyl & CD

As you might know, Uniform Motion put their latest album “One Frame Per Second” on vinyl and CD (and as a download, of course). A few weeks later they have started selling it via Bandcamp. Now, they have reached the point of a break even (covered their costs) and decided to lower the price for the album. It is a “pay what you want” model now or as Bandcamp calls it “Name your price” for both, the vinyl and CD version. You better get your copy quick.
“We said we’d lower the price our physical products if we broke even. Well, here it is folks. You can name your price for our CD and Vinyl. Minimum price is 1 euro (plus shipping). Bandcamp won’t allow us to put zero. This is kind of an experiment. You can thank a lovely chap called Thierry who suggested the idea.” (Uniform Motion)

AAAHHchestra Compilation on strictly limited hand made and crafted vinyl look digipack CD anyone?
Right now, we are working on the tracklist for the upcoming AAAHHchestra compilation, which is the result of our DenmAAAHHrk workshop and family meeting a few weeks ago. The mastering is finished and the artwork is in the making. As soon as we get the mastered files in uncompressed wave format we can render out the MP3s, OGGs and FLACs, tag and upload them and get ready for the release.
Because we think it was such a great week in denmark and the songs turned out so great, we decided to put them on CD aswell, as a strictly limited edition (maybe 50, maybe 100, it depends how many people are interested). The CDRs will come in a vinyl look, tenderly wrapped in a hand made and hand crafted digipack. We will post some fotos of the artwork and a CD prototype soon.
In case you are already convinced by the pure beauty of the snippets that you can listen to in the video above, feel free to drop us a line. Please keep in mind that the contact form below is not a proper preorder system. We would just like to know if you are interested in a CD and please let us know what a fair price would be for such a thing. Because we don’t know. As soon as the CDs are crafted, we will get in touch with you.
