Get ready for the AAAHHchestra
In September 2011 we booked a house in Denmark and invited our artists to meet up and record some music together. The result of this week turned out great. We did not only have a great time… we also took home a collection of great songs that have been recorded during the week. Here are snippets of some of the songs that will make it on the compilation. The album will be released soon. There will also be a strictly limited handmade version available on CD. Stay tuned and let us know what you think.
The compilation will feature music by musicians from our acts Bryyn, Keyboard Rebel, Entertainment For The Braindead, Nicolas Falcon and ne:o (some of them are on solo explorations, some songs where recorded collectively).

Donations. Is it worth the effort? No. Yes! Maybe?
We are a netlabel. We release free music. And we all do this as a hobby. This fact alone implies that we are not after the money. But… it would be nice to be able to do more than just putting some files online and telling our friends and fans about it. This year we booked a house in denmark, invited our artists to meet up and record some music. We had a great time and we would love to do this on a regular basis once a year. One day we would also like to press some vinyl, because we love the feel of it. And last but not least we would like to support our artists not only with some fame amongst the nerdy netaudio crowd but also with some cash. So… making some money somehow sounds like a great idea. Well, selling music has never be an option so we decided to go for a donation based “business” model. One year has passed since we gave this idea a home and the result is motivating and depressing at the same time. (more…)

Bryyn: Live video series coming up
Maybe you have been wondering what Bryyn has been up to lately. Well, there will be a new song by him and Julia aka Entertainment For The Braindead be released soon on our Denmark-Compilation. These news will be covered in more detail soon. As you might know Bryyn is a very busy person and we are always surprised about the wonderful songs he is coming up with. His latest project is about live music and moving images. Michael Savisky visited Bryyn and his wife Rachel to film them performing some songs. The first of the upcoming live video series covers their performance for “Giraffe”, which is also part of his “House Plants” album that we have released almost a year ago. “We have two more videos to come and will release them all on a “live video album” in the next few weeks.”, Bryyn writes on his redesigned website. Check it out while listening to this nicely performed version of “Giraffe”.

More Frames Per Second
The boys from Uniform Motion felt inspired by our remix mission and set all the stems from their latest album “One Frame Per Second” free. The files are all under a Creative Commons Attribution Licence. This means you can share your remix, and even sell it if you want, as long as you state somewhere that the original work was made by Uniform Motion. The BPM’s are in the SoundCloud set comments and all tracks have the same starting point, so when you import them into your DAW, they should all be in sync. There’s a condition though! You also have to remix the album artwork before you post your song online! You can download the artwork in a high resolution PDF-format. By remix, Uniform Motion mean that you have to use at least one element of the original artwork in yours. ie: you use Photoshop to cut out a tree, or the Knight’s sword, or whatever.
We are all looking forward to seeing and hearing what people come up with.

Nicolas wants you
…to help him with his latest project: His new band with the catchy name Falcon and the Featherweights would like to record a debut album. They have written and rehearsed thirteen songs that need professional treatment. Sadly, professional producers and studios are not cheap. That is why your donation would be highly appreciated. We went to Denmark for a week, rented a house there and invited all our artists. Most of them came and enjoyed a week full of jams, recordings and fun. As a result there will be a compilation of 13 songs that will be released soon. Uniform Motion: New Album on CD, Vinyl and as a download
Uniform Motions new record “One Frame Per Second” is officially available now. Meaning you can get it from a bunch of online digital music stores and as hard copies on CD and Vinyl. They have a few CD’s left, and plenty of 12″ Vinyls available. If you are in a frisbee team, we can probably provide you with a discount if you buy a dozen or more copies!

Denmark, here we come!

Five months ago we posted a blog entry about our plans about renting a house in denmark for our artists to get in touch with each other and start a workshop, jam- and recording session. Well, guess what! We are going to do this. We leave for Denmark on September 3rd and stay there for a whole week! Unfortunately not all of the aaahh records artists can make to the camp but all in all we will be at least 15 people. It’s most of the aaahh records crew, Bryyn and his new band members, Entertainment For The Braindead, The Keyboard Rebels, Nicolas Falcon and some of the ne:os. We have our own house for a week, we’ll bring instruments, mixers, amps, a drumkit, recording equipment and a lot of other toys to play around with. If we can manage to set up some wireless lan inside our little danish aaahh records villa, we might even do some live video streaming. We’ll keep you posted on this one!
Thanks to everyone who supported us with a donation for this project. So far we did not collect quite enough to cover all our costs. So we would be extra super happy if you would consider a donation. But we are going to do this anyway. Flights and ferryboats are booked, cars are filled up with gas and the instruments are beeing packed.
