Keyboard Rebel
KEYBOARD REBEL FROM MANCHESTER, ENGLAND…

Good music needs to be listened to. That´s what we thought when we first heard of the lovely Manchester based band Keyboard Rebel. Not only a musical venture, but also a band that proves that its ideals of music go far beyond entertainment, since all the money that is earned through performing and merchandise goes to Amnesty International. That is one more fantastic motive to play music and one more reason why they have gained our attention. So by supporting Keyboard Rebel and their new album Pop Grenade, you won´t just do yourself a favour, but you´ll be helping people all over the world in one step.
So what´s so special about their music? Naming bands such as Badly Drawn Boy, Neil Young and Elliott Smith as their influences, Keyboard Rebel didnt´t get stuck under the influence of other very poplular Manchester musicians such as Joy Division, but play their own pop – in the best and broadest sense of the word.
Describing themselves as indie mavericks, the band (alias Mike Bray, Tom Butlin, Rob Jackson, Denis Osborne, Kate Reynolds and Tim O’Callaghan) use the typical pop band instruments and add some fancy extras like an accordion and a cornet to form fresh and charming pop tunes that burst with thoughtful moments and inspire with melodic beats. Regarding their political ambitions, the socio-critical remarks seem to be headlining their lyrics, although the idea of pop is never neglected. Pop Grenade is a full-length debut album that does not only live on its honesty, but is rather what we call a dancy and splendid hideout worth taking the trip!
So how do you get a copy of “Pop Grenade”? As always, we release the music of our artists under a creative commons license, which means that you are allowed to download the album for free from our homepage www.aaahh-records.net. Due to the freedom that comes along with the cc-license, you can also use the music for your own musical experiments, such as remixes (and the like). If you like the music and feel like doing something nice, you might as well donate some money to the band, which means that you are solely donating to Amnesty International, an alternative way of saying “Thank you!” to the band. You will
find the donation button on our homepage. Furthermore, you should keep in mind that Keyboard Rebel also offer their music as a lovely digipak compact disc! You can purchase the CD for 5 pounds that will also go directly to Amnesty!
After all, the aaahh-records team is very proud to re-release “Pop Grenade” by Keyboard Rebel one month after the band has released it on its own label Slick Nine. And we hope you’ll enjoy it just as much as we do!
