NE:O FROM DRESDEN, GERMANY…

It´s the start of spring and we´d like to welcome a new band along our side! ne:o are five young gentlemen from Dresden/Germany, who have been trying to wear away the boundaries between electro and electronic guitars since their very start in 2003. After their debut musikkritik, their second album illoj is now released on aaahh-records. As usual, you can legally download it for free from our homepage, along with a bunch of artworks from our label-website, or you can purchase it as a lovely digipak for your cd shelves at home.

Just to get one thing straight: you shouldn´t mistake ne:o for an electro-formation from Hungary that is also called Neo, but without the colon. And although we weren´t able to figure out why they did squeeze in that colon, we found out how to pronounce it: just like the good ol´ Greeks would´ve done it, y´know? So while some artists have the callous reputation of spending their most creative energy in rehabilitation centres or breaking out of them, ne:o invested their precious time to create a wonderful piece of music. With three years in the making, we really think that it stands up to its claim as precision work. So how could we explain the outcome of such precise work over the years in words?

We could refer to postrock or tell you something about jazz influences, maybe even something about electronic subgenres. But it would barely be more than an idle attempt to give you some kind of comparison. Or it might be our way of precisely asking you to put on your headphones and give it a listen. Maybe then you will understand what illoj is about. And if not, you might imagine a guy in a band who once went to a museum and found a computer that asked him to type in a word. And maybe this guy simply let his fingers fall down on the keyboard. He deleted the word, but kept on searching for it elsewhere. Maybe.
